    CSA Distribution/Farm Store Manager  (One Position)

    Holcomb Farm is looking for an enthusiastic, outgoing and physically-able person to be the face of our farm and manage our weekly CSA distributions as well as our farm store. This position involves 25 hrs/week of work and is paid hourly at $9/hr. Experience with Community Supported Agriculture programs and retail is essential to be considered for this position.

    CSA Distribution Duties: CSA distribution at the farm runs on Tues from 2-6pm, Thurs from 3-7pm and Sat from 9am-1pm for the 20-week CSA season (June-October). CSA Distribution Staff Person must be able to attend distributions for the 20-week season. Work involves setting up and closing down distribution area, maintaining an active presence during distribution hours by talking to members and re-stocking produce bins, knowledgeably communicating with members about the produce, the farm, and the ins and outs of being a CSA member, communication with Farm Manager about weekly produce availability and CSA member communications, general clean-up and maintenance of distribution area, maintenance of signs for Pick Your Own crops and general distribution area, insurance of safety during distribution, and closing up the farm at the end of the day. Individuals must be able to lift 50 lbs and carry it 50 feet repeatedly during CSA distribution hours.

    Farm Store Management Duties: Duties include sourcing local products to compliment farm offerings and that represent the values of our farm operation, regular communication with Farm Manager, inventory, ordering, stocking shelves, managing sales throughout distribution times, managing farm store budget, keeping sales and accounting records, customer communications, maintaining aesthetic appeal of Farm Store, and set up and close down of farm store on days of operation.

    Full Time Crew Members for 2013 Season

    We are looking for a select group of responsible, hard-working, and enthusiastic people to join our farm crew for the 2013 season.    Each member of our crew will play a critical role in the production, harvest and distribution of crops, and will be expected to take on individual responsibilities within the structure of the farm team. Previous experience in production vegetable farming or similar work outdoors is necessary to be considered for this position.  Individuals must have the ability to lift 50 lbs comfortably and regularly.

    Compensation includes $9/hr, option to a private room in the farm house for $225/month (utilities included), workers compensation, on-farm produce, and a discount on farm store products.  Work schedule is 7am -5pm, Monday-Friday, with rotated weekend watering duties. Work hours may vary based on the time of year and weather conditions. This position runs from the beginning of April 2013 until the first week in November 2013.

    Available Workshare Positions

    In exchange for 45 hours of work at the farm, our Workshares receive a CSA Share (a 20- week season of fresh naturally grown produce for the value of $550.) Workshare positions are considered as important as our employees and are held up to the same standards. We only accept Workshares who offer certain skill sets needed on the farm.     CSA Distribution Workshare

    We are looking for individuals to help staff our CSA distribution weekly on one of 3 distribution days. Weekly distribution dates/times are: Tues 2-6pm, Thurs 3-7 pm, and Sat 9am-1pm.   Workshares must commit to one of the 3 weekly distribution time-slots and be able to attend consecutively for 10 of the 20-week CSA Season (June-October).
