Fresh Access

Help us help others in need of fresh food

Hunger in our community? Unfortunately, yes. Affordability of healthy food is one problem. Access is another. In some communities, whether inner-city or rural, the only place to shop for “groceries” might be a convenience store or gas station.

In partnership with social service agencies across the region, Fresh Access provides fresh, local produce to people who otherwise literally do not have access to fresh fruits and vegetables for a variety of reasons. Partner agencies include local churches, food banks, and community kitchens. They serve a wide variety of populations in need, from low-income families to seniors with limited mobility.

The Board of Directors of Holcomb Farm works to raise thousands of dollars each year to support donation of a portion of our annual harvest throughout the growing season. And we do it in a really big way! In 2012, we gave away about 13% of our crop production – that’s 15,000 pounds! Hundreds of families benefit from the Fresh Access program, which has been relying on production from Holcomb Farm for almost 20 years.

Yes! I want to help provide fresh food to those in need.

“How much should I give?” For as little as $10, a community kitchen can put a hearty vegetable soup on the table. A gift of $250 will sponsor a family for the entire season. When it comes to providing fresh nutrition to people in need, every dollar counts.

Fresh Access is 100% privately funded. ALL DONATIONS, large or small, will make a difference in the lives of others. Please help if you can by making a donation right now.

IMPORTANT! FRESH ACCESS SPONSORSHIPS for major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations are also available. Please contact the office at 860-844-8616 or use our Contact Form to send us a message for information about becoming a sponsor.

Thank you!
