Trails

Clean air, sparkling water, and tall trees to refresh your outlook!

The trails at Holcomb Farm are available year ’round, from dawn to dusk. The terrain varies from gently sloping meadows to forested highlands to steep, rocky inclines.  Recreation including hiking, cross-country skiing, and snow shoeing, and horseback riding is permitted.

Spend an hour, or the whole day. All Holcomb Farm trails are loops, forming an easy to moderate hike lasting up to an hour. Simply follow the colored blazes painted on trees to stay on our trails.

Please note that some trails also connect with adjoining McLean Game Refuge or Granby Land Trust properties.

Want an easy hike? Head east to traverse gently sloping fields and forest. Choose from 6 trails that take you through piney forest, across fields of wildflowers, and over trickling streams. Look for amphibians and dozens of species of birds.

Looking for a bit more challenge? To the west, walk along the brook and up the ridge. These hills mark the beginning of the Berkshire Mountains, which extend up into Massachusetts.  Cross the West Branch of the Salmon Brook, a tributary of the Farmington River. Look for white-tailed deer, box turtles, and many more birds.  More than 60 bird species live at Holcomb Farm.

Enjoy!
